 ABOUT: SAMUEL E. VEDERMAN, ESQ.

Sam Vederman is an attorney with a vast legal background who stands ready to assist you with your legal needs.  Sam moved to Arizona in 1999 after graduating from the Michigan State University College of Law and is very familiar with the legal system in Arizona having worked as a Superior Court Judge, prosecutor and defense attorney. Sam has extensive trial experience in criminal law and family law; he has either practiced law, or presided as a Superior Court Judge, in La Paz County, Mohave County, Maricopa County and Yuma County. Sam is licensed to practice law in all state courts within Arizona.

Prior to entering private legal practice, Sam served as a Superior Court Judge in La Paz County until his retirement in June 2017. As a Superior Court Judge Sam presided over cases involving criminal law (major felonies including first degree murder), family law (divorce, custody, child support), juvenile law (dependency, delinquency), civil litigation (personal injury, contract disputes, real estate transactions) and appeals from the justice and magistrate courts (misdemeanor criminal offenses and traffic issues).

In 2016, Sam was selected by the Chief Judge of the Arizona Court of Appeals, Division One, to serve as a judge on eight cases and, in 2017, Sam was selected by the Chief Justice of the Arizona Supreme Court to serve as a judge on one case. Throughout his entire legal career Sam has been in the courtroom either litigating cases himself, or presiding over litigation as a judge, and his litigation experience includes substantial jury trial experience both as an attorney and as a judge.

Prior to his appointment as a Superior Court Judge in 2012 by Governor Jan Brewer, and his subsequent re-election in 2014, Sam was the elected La Paz County Attorney from 2009 through 2012. As the La Paz County Attorney Sam oversaw an office of 20 employees and supervised both the criminal division, and the civil division of the office, and he appeared in court on a regular basis representing the State of Arizona.

In addition to his service as a Superior Court Judge and as the La Paz County Attorney, Sam worked in the La Paz County Attorney's Office as its Chief Deputy County Attorney and as a Deputy County Attorney Prosecutor; as the Chief Prosecutor for the Colorado River Indian Tribes; as a Deputy County Attorney Prosecutor in Yuma County serving there as a prosecutor in the Drugs, Gangs and Violent Crimes Unit; as an Assistant City Prosecutor for the City of Mesa, Arizona handling DUI cases on a regular basis; and as a Deputy Public Defender in La Paz County.

In addition to Sam's skills as a litigator, he also works full-time as a Court Appointed Advisor in the Family Court throughout the State of Arizona. Sam is glad to discuss a variety of legal issues with you and welcomes your calls.
